Healthcare & pharmacies

Clear invoices for patients, payers and pharmacy counters, in Arabic and English.

A medical cross sign, a capsule, a medicine bottle and a heartbeat line

Clinics, medical centres and dental practices often settle one visit between a patient and an insurer or employer, while pharmacies ring up quick counter sales all day. Fatooraz puts both on tax invoices designed for ZATCA's e-invoicing requirements, with 15% VAT, credit notes and bilingual documents, so the front desk, the pharmacist and the accountant share the same figures.

Problems we see in this industry

One visit, two payers

A consultation may be split between a co-payment collected at the desk and a balance billed to an insurer or employer. Without a clean split, staff re-key amounts, and the payer's share is billed late or not at all.

Rejected and adjusted claims

When a payer rejects or reduces part of an invoice, the issued invoice cannot be edited. Without a proper credit note and a corrected invoice, receivables and VAT figures drift apart month after month.

Mixed VAT treatment in one day's sales

A practice may sell consultations, procedures, medicines and personal-care items in a single day, and the VAT treatment can differ between them. A wrong tax category on one line means corrections at month end.

A queue at the pharmacy counter

Pharmacy counters need quick checkout, barcode scanning and an end-of-day cash count that matches what was sold. Paper slips and spreadsheets slow the queue and turn shift closing into a manual reconciliation.

How Fatooraz helps

Invoices addressed to the right party

Issue a tax invoice to the insurer or employer with their name and VAT details, and a separate invoice or receipt for the patient's share. Each invoice carries 15% VAT where it applies and its own payment status.

Invoicing

Credit notes and open payer balances

Record partial payments, filter the open invoices by insurer or company and see what is still owed. When a claim is adjusted, a credit note is issued against the original invoice instead of altering it.

Billing and payments

A fast cashier screen for the pharmacy

Scan barcodes, apply price lists, take split payments and print Arabic receipts with a QR code. Each cashier closes the day with a session report, and sales continue through short connection drops.

Point of sale (POS)

VAT set line by line

Set the tax on each service or product, so consultations, procedures and retail items each follow the treatment you choose, and review VAT reports that match what was invoiced. Your tax adviser can confirm which treatment applies.

VAT compliance

E-invoicing for this industry

Walk-in patients and pharmacy customers are consumers, so those sales are normally simplified tax invoices with a QR code, reported to ZATCA within 24 hours once Phase 2 applies to you. Invoices to insurers and companies are usually standard tax invoices, cleared before they go to the buyer. Adjustments are credit or debit notes. Confirm your wave in ZATCA's announcements.

Numbers owners keep an eye on

  • Outstanding balance by payer
  • Co-payments collected per day
  • Credit notes issued against claims
  • Pharmacy takings per cashier session

Frequently asked questions

Can I invoice an insurer for part of a visit and the patient for the rest?

Yes. The payer is invoiced for its share, and the patient receives a simplified invoice or receipt for the co-payment. Each has its own payment status, so you can see what the payer still owes without chasing the desk.

What do I do when an insurer rejects part of an invoice I already issued?

Issued e-invoices cannot be edited or deleted, so you issue a credit note against the original for the rejected amount and, if the claim is resubmitted, a new invoice. Credit notes are e-invoices too, so VAT reports stay consistent.

Do all medical services and medicines carry 15% VAT?

Not necessarily. Some healthcare services and goods can be zero-rated or exempt while others are standard-rated, depending on the supply and current regulations. Fatooraz lets you set the tax on each item; confirm the right treatment with your tax adviser.
