Grocery stores & supermarkets
A checkout that handles fast small baskets, with tax applied item by item.
A supermarket rings up a constant stream of small baskets, and one basket can hold items with different tax treatment. Fatooraz gives your store a fast barcode checkout, simplified invoices with QR, a session close for each cashier, and tidy credit accounts for business customers.
Problems we see in this industry
Long queues of small, fast baskets
Grocery customers buy a handful of items and expect to leave in minutes. Hand-keying products or waiting on a slow screen stretches queues around prayer breaks, evenings and the end of the month.
Frequent price changes across a big catalogue
Offers and supplier price moves change shelf prices all the time. If labels and tills are updated at different times, customers see two prices and cashiers lose time resolving it at the counter.
Mixed tax treatment on one receipt
A single basket can hold 15% items alongside zero-rated or exempt ones. A wrong setting on one product quietly misstates VAT across a great many receipts before anyone notices.
Cashier shifts that must balance every day
Several cashiers and shifts handle cash, cards and refunds in a day. Without a session close for each one, differences are found late and are hard to trace to a person or a time.
How Fatooraz helps
Fast scanning for high-volume baskets
Scan the barcode to add each item at its price-list price and take cash, card or a split. At the end of the shift each cashier closes their own session, so differences show up while they can still be traced.
Point of sale (POS)Tax set per product and totalled per rate
Each product carries its own tax treatment, so a mixed basket comes out with the right tax on every line. VAT reports separate sales at 15% from zero-rated and exempt ones.
VAT complianceSimplified invoices with QR at the till
Every sale to an individual produces a simplified tax invoice with a QR code, and Fatooraz is built for the requirements of both Phase 1 and Phase 2. Once an invoice is issued it is not edited; corrections use a credit note.
ZATCA e-invoicing (Fatoora)Credit terms for regular business buyers
Offices, small restaurants and canteens that buy on account get tax invoices with payment terms, partial payments and a clear payment status on each invoice, kept entirely apart from cash sales at the till.
Billing and paymentsE-invoicing for this industry
Shelf and checkout sales to households are simplified tax invoices with a QR code. Purchases by companies, such as canteens, hotels or small food businesses buying on account, need standard tax invoices that are cleared before delivery to the buyer. Returns and price corrections go through credit notes. Confirm your Phase 2 wave in ZATCA announcements.

Frequently asked questions
Can one basket mix 15% items with zero-rated or exempt ones?
Yes. Each product carries its own tax treatment, so a single basket can include items at 15% and items that are zero-rated or exempt. Check with your accountant which of your products qualify, and Fatooraz then totals each treatment separately in the VAT reports.
How do I close a cashier shift at the end of the day?
Close the POS session, and it totals sales by payment method: cash, card and split. Compare the cash in the drawer with the expected amount to see any difference. The simplified invoices issued during the session stay exactly as they were, unedited.
Can my business customers buy on account?
Yes. Issue them tax invoices with payment terms, record what they pay in part or in full, and review each customer’s open invoices regularly. These accounts stay separate from cash sales at the till but feed the same VAT reports.
